FIELD: fuels and lubricants.
SUBSTANCE: methods for controlling the quality of fuels, in particular methods for determining the storage stability of EURO diesel fuels (EURO DF). To determine the shelf life of EURO diesel fuels, a sample is taken and placed in a vessel of a given volume with a copper plate. Thermostating of the vessel with the sample is carried out at a given temperature for a given period of time, followed by cooling to room temperature. Subsequent filtration is carried out through a blue tape filter brought to a constant weight. The sediment and acidity of the oxidized fuel is determined. The obtained values are compared with the standard values, by the magnitude of the mismatch of which a conclusion is made about the chemical stability of the fuel, the value of which is used to estimate the shelf life. The number of vessels is taken equal to the estimated years of storage. Vessels are weighed prior to filling the fuel sample. Tightly sealed flasks are taken as vessels, which are filled at least 0.80 of their volume with a fuel sample in a volume of at least 200 cm3. Thermostating is carried out at 110°C. Every 24 hours, one flask is taken from the thermostat and the indicators of oxidized fuel are evaluated: sediment and acidity, and additional lubricity. To determine the sediment, the total amount of deposits on the filter, on the bottom and walls of the flask is used. When values of indicators less than the standard are obtained, the tests are continued, and the number of years equivalent to the number of days when all three indicators correspond to the standard values is taken as the storage period: sediment - no more than 25 mg/100 cm3, acidity - no more than 6.0 mg KOH/100 cm3, lubricity - no more than 460 microns.
EFFECT: to increase the reliability of assessing the change in the quality of modern and perspective EURO diesel fuels and the possibility of determining their shelf life.
