SUBSTANCE: method for producing a substrate for growing plants is proposed, according to which a birch trunk is debarked with the separation of the bast, from which the remnants of wood and bark are separated by combing. The peeled bast and bark, which contains wood residues, are sieved on a drum sifter with a mesh having a mesh size of 20 mm. The resulting product is delivered for drying in a drying drum and dried at a temperature of 150-180°C, after which the product is cooled and re-crushed to a fraction of less than 10 mm. The resulting substrate consisting of at least 90% of the total mass of the bast substrate and not more than 10% of the total mass of the substrate of crushed birch bark and wood residues is packed in mats.

EFFECT: creating a substrate that provides accelerated growth rates of plants with minimal use of fertilizers, as well as a possibility of its reuse.
