FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: measurement of the central thickness of the cornea (CTC) is carried out in microns on a Pentacam Oculus scanning tomograph. In this case, the first measurement of the CTC is carried out before the instillation of drops. Then, a 10% sterile hypertonic NaCl solution is instilled into the palpebral fissure, 30 minutes after the first instillation of the solution, the CTC is again measured with the help of the same tomograph. After that, 10% sterile hypertonic NaCl solution is instilled a second time, and 30 minutes after the second instillation, the CTC is again measured with the help of the same tomograph. If the CTC difference between the first and last measurement is 10 μm or less, the pumping function of the endothelial corneal monolayer is stable, and isolated cataract phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation (PEC + IOL) is indicated. If the difference in CTC between the first and last measurement is over 10 μm, the pumping function of the corneal endothelial monolayer is unstable, and combined PEC + IOL with simultaneous transplantation of the Descemet's membrane is indicated.
EFFECT: method allows to accurately, reliably, objectively, timely obtain the result which subsequently allows to choose the tactics of surgical treatment of this category of patients.
