METHOD FOR CHOOSING THE TACTICS OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF CATARACTS IN PATIENTS WITH FUCHS PRIMARY ENDOTHELIAL CORNEAL DYSTROPHY Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B3/117

Abstract RU 2792392 C1

FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to select tactics for the treatment of cataracts in patients with Fuchs primary endothelial corneal dystrophy. The central corneal thickness (CCT) is measured in µm with the help of an Optovue optical coherence tomograph. In this case, the first measurement of the CTR is carried out in the morning immediately after the patient wakes up, then after 1 hour the CTR is measured, and 5 hours after the first measurement, the CTR is again measured with the help of the same tomograph. If the CTR difference between the first and last measurement is 10 μm or less, the pumping function of the endothelial corneal monolayer is stable, and isolated cataract phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation (FEC + IOL) is indicated. If the difference in CTR between the first and last measurement is more than 10 μm, the pumping function of the corneal endothelial monolayer is unstable, and combined FEC + IOL with simultaneous transplantation of the Descemet's membrane is indicated.

EFFECT: method provides the choice of tactics of surgical treatment by determining the CTR in two stages.
