FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to treat patients with bilateral limbal deficiency syndrome (LDS). For this purpose perform conjunctival peritomy by 360 degrees. Then peel it off by 5-10 mm from the limbus. Excise fibrocellular pannus from the cornea surface of the affected eye. Perform autograft transplantation onto the surface of the treated eye. Use horseshoe-shaped strip of lips mucous membrane 33-38 mm long, 2-2.5 mm wide and 0.5 mm thick as an autograft. Place the autograft on the surface of the eye along the entire limbus circumference, fix to the sclera with quilted sutures. Then apply amniotic membrane (AM) to the cornea with the capture of autograft and suture to the sclera with circular twisted sutures. Place soft contact lens above the AM for 14 days.

EFFECT: invention provides restoration of the cornea epithelial layer due to transplantation of the lip mucous membrane, minimizes intraoperative risks, facilitates postoperative period and, as a result, accelerates the process of corneal re-epithelialization, improving the patient's quality of life.
