SUBSTANCE: invention relates to new nitrification inhibitors. The use of an N-functionalized alkoxypyrazole compound of formula I, or a salt thereof, as a nitrification inhibitor is proposed, where R¹ means C₁-C₂-alkyl, or benzyl; R² means C₁-C₂-alkyl; R^N means CH(C(=O)OR^b)CH₂(C(=O)OR^b); C(=O)R^d or C(=O)NR^bR^c, where R^b means H; R^c means H; R^d means C₁-C₃-alkyl; n means 0 or 1. Also the use of a composition containing a compound of formula I, an agrochemical mixture, a method for reducing nitrification, and a method for treating a fertilizer are proposed.

EFFECT: obtaining a nitrification inhibitor, which has high activity as nitrification inhibitors, has reduced volatility and toxicity, and is also environmentally safe.
