SUBSTANCE: invention in particular relates to methods and systems for processing medical images. A method for processing medical images, carried out on at least one machine, each of which has at least one processor and storage, the method comprising the steps of: obtaining a target image, decomposing the target image into at least one layer based on frequencies of the target images and/or gray levels of the elements of the target image, generating a weight image for a high-frequency sub-image of at least one said layer, wherein the weight image includes a plurality of weights, updating and reconstructing the composite image based on the updated high-frequency sub-image of at least one said layer, and a low-frequency sub-image of at least one said layer.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the region of interest (ROI) on medical images.
