METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A VASCULAR GRAFT FROM THE VEIN OF THE HUMAN UMBILICAL CORD Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61F2/06 

FIELD: medicine, cardiovascular and general surgery.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the manufacture of biological vascular grafts from the umbilical cord of a newborn. The method includes taking the cord and mechanical processing, while temporary preservation of the umbilical cord in the delivery room was carried out by washing with tap water, followed by placing the umbilical cord in a solution of 70° ethyl alcohol. Next, mechanical treatment was carried out: the umbilical cord, after being removed from the alcohol solution, was washed with running water for 20 minutes. Then the segment of the cord was strung on a bougie from the 5 mm Heger set to fix the vein wall for mechanical removal with tweezers, a scalpel and scissors of the Vartoliev jelly along with the umbilical arteries, leaving only the vein wall as much as possible. Then, external and internal washing of the umbilical vein segment was performed with a trypsin solution for 20 minutes, followed by washing with tap water for 20 minutes. Further, external and internal washing with a detergent solution for 20 minutes, followed by rinsing with tap water and placement for further storage in a solution of 70° ethyl alcohol.

EFFECT: invention ensures exclusion of aldehydes and other aggressive substances from the processing. During the processing, the fibrous structures of the vein wall are maximally preserved.
