FIELD: construction methods.
SUBSTANCE: frozen soil mechanics, in particular an external air cooling system for an embankment slope in a snow-covered permafrost zone and a method for constructing an external air cooling system. The external air cooling system of the embankment slope in the snow-covered permafrost zone in winter includes an air intake, an exhaust air duct and a ventilation duct. The air intake is connected to the exhaust duct through the ventilation duct. The ventilation duct is located in a horizontal plane, the air intake and exhaust duct are oriented vertically. The ventilation duct is built into the slope of the embankment, the air intake extends outward from the bottom of the embankment slope, the exhaust duct extends outward from the ledge of the embankment slope, and the end of the air intake remote from the ventilation duct is located at a level below the end of the exhaust duct remote from the ventilation duct, due to which the ambient air will be injected due to the pressure difference and temperature difference between the air in the ventilation duct built into the slope of the embankment and the ambient air, after which it will be able to sequentially pass through the air intake, ventilation duct and outlet duct in calm weather.
EFFECT: providing cooling of the soil covered with snow and located under the slope of the embankment in the permafrost zone with the outside air, lowering the soil temperature, preventing the degradation of the permafrost, speeding up construction work and reducing the destruction of the structure of the permafrost under the slope of the embankment.
