FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the hardening of the counter blades of a mulching cutter, which are used for chipping tree and shrub vegetation and logging residues during land reclamation by impact action. The method of hardening the shear plate of the mulching cutter includes heating up to 840-860°C and hardening to a hardness of 30-40 HRC of a workpiece made of steel with a carbon content of 0.35-0.60% and manganese of 0.2-0.8%, whereas a carbide element made of an alloy of tungsten carbide grade “ВК10КС” with a size of 40× 15×2 mm, which is soldered using induction soldering at a temperature of 930°C by copper-nickel solder MNMts 55-6-4 in the form of a tape 0.25 mm thick, corresponding to the dimensions and configuration of the soldered carbide element, with flux PV200 to a place on the workpiece previously prepared by mechanical processing with a surface roughness for soldering not more than Ra = 10 mcm for a shear plate that has been cleaned of oxide films in a bath with molten NaNO2 and NaNO3 salts at a temperature of 340°C for 15 minutes, with the adhesion strength of the carbide element to the blank for the shear plate at the level of 340 MPa.

EFFECT: increased hardness and wear resistance of the blades of the mulching cutter when crushing by impact action of shoots, wood residues, interaction with soil particles and stones, which have a high wear capacity.
