FIELD: centring of round objects.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to methods and a system for centring a round object, such as a Petri dish, between a plurality of rods. In one embodiment, the method includes placing a round object on a rotatable platform surrounded by three movable rods. For coarse centring of the round object, the method further includes moving for the first time all the rods towards the round object until at least two of the three rods touch the round object. To more accurately centre the round object, the method further includes: moving all rods away from the round object so that it can rotate without significant interference; rotating the platform by 60 degrees, wherein the rotation of the platform also causes the circular object to rotate by 60 degrees; and moving a second time all the rods towards the round object.

EFFECT: group of inventions improves the accuracy of centring round objects, such as Petri dishes.
