FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: method includes automated steps for localization and selecting of a microorganisms colony on a culture dish; obtaining of a sample of the said selected microorganisms colony; deposition of at least a portion of the said sample of said selected microorganisms colony onto a target and transfer of the said target with the said sample into a MALDI device to identify the said sample of the said selected microorganisms colony. The microorganism colony sample is automatically applied to the application point, so that the sample covers no more than about half of one of the target application points. A suspension of a microorganism sample is automatically obtained by automatically collecting the sample with a colony picking tool and immersing the colony picking tool with the said sample in the suspension, after which the colony picking tool is vertically vibrated solely to release the sample from the colony picking tool.

EFFECT: increased reproducibility of the preparation of a microorganisms sample suspension, increased reliability and reproducibility of sample release at the point of application to the target when localizing and selecting a colony of microorganisms and identifying them with MALDI.
