SUBSTANCE: method for preventing gas separator cutting during production of formation fluid with a high content of gas and solid particles of mechanical impurities using an electric centrifugal pump unit with a gas separator includes determining the local wear zone of the gas separator protective sleeve and making local through holes in the gas separator housing opposite the identified zones. The gas separator consists of a housing in which the following are coaxially installed: an input unit, a drive shaft, a rotor, a unit for removing separated gas into the annulus, and a composite protective sleeve. The composite protective sleeve is made of separate elements - hollow thin-walled cylinders with connecting grooves at the ends. The elements of the protective sleeve, subjected to the most intense hydroabrasive wear, are made of a high hardness material.

EFFECT: increased maintainability of the gas separator and prevention of cutting of the gas separator during production of reservoir fluid with a high content of gas and solid particles of mechanical impurities using an electric centrifugal pump unit equipped with a gas separator.
