FIELD: radio communication equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radars, radio navigation, long-range and ultra-long-range communications, television and radio broadcasting, scientific research and can be used for calibrating high-frequency (HF) and ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) noise generators, measuring the noise figure of receivers, amplifiers, mixers and other HF and UHF devices. The method of scalar calibration of the noise generator with instability control consists in calibrating the receiver by connecting the reference noise generator to the receiver through an attenuator, measuring the noise power from the output of the reference noise generator, connecting the noise generator being tested to the attenuator and measuring the noise power from its output, estimating the instability of the receiver, recalibrating the receiver, if the receiver is unstable at the specified limits, determining the excess relative noise temperature of the noise generator being tested, taking into account the calculated instability. The noise powers from the outputs of the reference noise generator and the noise generator being tested correspond to the states of the "hot" and "cold" sources.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is the reduction of calibration time due to the absence of vector calibration, as well as the expansion of the arsenal of technical means.
