FIELD: peeling machines for veneer production.

SUBSTANCE: peeling machine comprises rotating spindles (3) for hooking the ends of the block, a centring device for measuring the dimensions of the block to determine the optimal centring of the block. In this case, the centring device comprises centring spindles (5a, 5b) for engaging each end of the block. The peeling machine includes transfer levers (6a, 6b) movable in the axial direction of the spindles to engage the ends of the block and in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction to transfer the block from the centring device to the peeling position. The peeling machine has a knife assembly comprising a knife (7a) and a pressure bar (7b) which is made in the form of a rotating roll. The peeling machine includes a pressing device (8) comprising a lower roll (8a) and an upper roll (8b) at a distance from the lower roll to support the block during peeling. The method for making veneer from short-cut wood using a peeling machine includes the steps of installing the short-cut wood on the machine, rotating the short-cut wood on the machine, peeling the veneer from the short-cut wood using a knife.

EFFECT: design of the peeling machine is simplified.
