FIELD: engine building.
SUBSTANCE: engine with an elastic connecting rod contains a connecting rod of variable length with a compression spring, which takes the forces of gas pressure on the piston, accumulating the mechanical energy of combustion pressure, and gives it to the crankshaft. The compression spring is made of several straight steel plates attached at one end to the upper part of the lower head of the connecting rod, and at the other end to the upper head of the connecting rod. Rectilinear plates (1) are formed into two rods (2) and (3) of the connecting rod (4), placed remotely from each other, on opposite sides from the connecting rod axis. On opposite sides from the axis of the connecting rod (4), the ends of the rods (2) and (3) of the connecting rod are provided with spacers (5) placed between the straight plates and fastened to them. At these ends of the rods of the connecting rod, parts of the swivel joint are formed, with which the rods are pivotally connected at one end to the ball bearings of the piston pin, and at the other, pivotally to the upper part of the lower head of the connecting rod.
EFFECT: increasing the stiffness of the spring and simplifying the device.
