FIELD: engine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines. Engine with flexible connecting rod comprises connecting rod (1) of variable length with compression spring, which receives gas pressure force on piston. Compression spring is made of several steel plates (3) formed into two rods (2) of connecting rod, which are located at a distance from each other on opposite sides from axis of connecting rod (1). On ends of rods (2) of connecting rod there are parts of hinged connection, by which rods by one end are hinged to piston pin, and by the other one is hinged to upper part of lower head of connecting rod. Steel plates (3) of rods (2) of connecting rod are given a barrel shape or curvature, in longitudinal and in cross sections. In the middle of each rod (2) in plates (3) a hole is formed, into which sleeves (5) are inserted. Sleeves (5) with their flanges (6) made on the side of open ends of sleeves (5), are attached to inner, relative to connecting rod axis, plates (3) of rods (2) of the connecting rod. Rod compression spring (7) is inserted into both sleeves (5).
EFFECT: increased rigidity of rods in initial period of deformation.
