FIELD: petrochemical industry.

SUBSTANCE: method for producing a mixture of methylbenzylated phenols, used as a non-coloring complex stabilizer for light oil-free rubbers, latexes, rubbers, plastics, oils and plasticizers. The method includes, at the first stage, adding an alkylbenzenesulfonic acid catalyst to phenol in a stream of inert gas, stirring, heating, adding dropwise styrene for 120-360 minutes, maintaining the reaction mass for 60-120 minutes, at the second stage, adding a triethanolamine neutralizer and keeping under stirring for 30-60 minutes, further cooling to 20-25°C, and is characterized by the fact that at the first stage, heating is first carried out to 60-80°C, styrene is added, stabilized by the polymerization inhibitor tert-butylpyrocatechol, and before holding the reaction mass, heating is carried out to 80-85°C, while the molar ratio of phenol:styrene is 1: (2.3-2.4); the mass ratio of phenol:catalyst is 1: (0.003-0.008); the mass ratio of phenol:neutralizer is 1: (0.001-0.005); mass ratio of phenol:polymerization inhibitor is 1: (0.0000125-0.000025).

EFFECT: decrease in the process temperature, an increase in the conversion of phenol and styrene, the exclusion of wastewater, the production of a light product with a color of not more than 20 units on the platinum-cobalt scale, and the exclusion of the possibility of the formation of a polystyrene by-product.
