SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing monomeric aromatic carbodiimides. The method is carried out through the following steps: a) carbodiimidization of monomeric aromatic isocyanates in the presence of a catalyst, b) separation of low-boiling compounds and catalyst from the reaction product from step a) in a thin-film evaporator, c) distillation of the residue from step b) in an additional thin-film evaporator. In this case, the residue from step b) comprises the resulting monomeric aromatic carbodiimides and the by-products formed therefrom.
EFFECT: proposed method makes it possible to obtain monomeric aromatic carbodiimides with a low colour index, which do not contain organic phosphorus compounds and unconverted starting products and can be used in the preparation and/or stabilization of polyurethane systems.
