SUBSTANCE: invention relates to carbodiimides having terminal urethane groups of formula (I), which can be used to protect ester polymers from hydrolysis. In formula (I), radicals R can be identical or different and is selected from groups of -NHCOORIII-, where RIII is (C1-C22)-alkyl, (C6-C12)-cycloalkyl or corresponds to an alkoxypolyoxyalkylene radical, R1, R2 and R3 each independently, is methyl or ethyl, wherein each benzene ring having only one methyl group, n=0–20.

EFFECT: invention relates to methods for the preparation of carbodiimides containing their compositions for protecting ester-based polymers against hydrolysis, method for producing such a composition and use of carbodiimides in ester-based polyols as a protection against hydrolytic degradation.
