FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering, and more specifically to universal hinges. The crosspiece of a universal joint with a variable angle between the axes of the spikes, having a prefabricated structure, consists of an internal crosspiece (1), four interchangeable elements (2) an external composite crosspiece and external needle bearings (7). The internal crosspiece (1) is made in the form of a central conductor. Two pairs of coaxial cylindrical spikes of the conductor, or two pairs of its coaxial blind cylindrical holes, are located on two mutually perpendicular axes intersecting in the geometric center of the central conductor. Elements (2) are connected to the conductor pivotally, using internal needle bearings (6). Elements (2) are made of the same shape and size and have one outer cylindrical spike, pivotally, with the use of external needle bearings (7) connected to the cups (3). The alignment of the opposite outer cylindrical spikes of the outer composite crosspiece is ensured by the alignment of the seating holes for pressing the cups (3) of the external needle bearings (7) in the forks of the universal joint. The crosspiece may have rubber seals (5) at the junctions of the outer cylindrical spikes of the interchangeable elements (2) of the outer composite crosspiece with cups (3) of the outer needle bearings (7).

EFFECT: possibility of torque transmission with equal angular velocities is achieved, with linear contact between the forks of the universal joint and the parts of the crosspiece of the universal joint with a variable angle between the axes of the spikes, in the interval of angles between the axes of the drive and driven shafts:1st alternative - 0° to 14°; 2nd alternative - 0° to 60°; the 3rd, 4th, 5th alternatives - 0° to 83°.
