LOWER UNIT OF ANGLE FRONT-REAR DRIVE OF OUTBOARD ENGINE WITH VERTICAL FEED Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC B63H20/20

Abstract RU 2802382 C1

FIELD: small-sized shipbuilding.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the device of the lower block of the angular drive of the outboard engine with vertical feed, and the method of improving its operation in shallow water, in muddy, marshy water, water clogged by vegetation or obstacles. The vertical feed outboard angle drive lower assembly utilizes the rotational force from the outboard motor to the vertical input shaft and transmits it to the propeller bearing at an angle to the vertical orientation of the vertical input shaft. The propeller, mounted on a support, is at an acute angle to the surface and, presumably, to the bottom of the water. The placement of the thrust redirection plate is provided above the installed propeller at a less acute angle to the water surface. When the thrust force generated by the propeller is directed back and down, pushing the boat forward, the thrust redirection plate reflects the peripheral part of this force without destroying the surface of the water and without losing thrust. With propeller thrust forward and upward pulling the boat backward, the thrust redirection plate deflects most of that force, originally directed toward the surface of the water and the boat's transom, downward. The tilt skeg is designed to protect the bottom angle drive unit of a vertical feed outboard and the installed propeller. The bottom angle drive unit of a vertical feed outboard is provided with housings that house the gear shafts and bearings. Most shrouds are located at least partially below the waterline during operation to keep the bottom angle drive unit of the vertical drive outboard cool during operation.

EFFECT: improvement of the design of the lower block of the angular drive of the outboard engine for its more efficient operation in the aquatic environment.
