SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cutting and certain types of carpentry tools and can be used in various sectors of the national economy and in everyday life. The front-retractable knife comprises a guide tube, a working part, a rod placed for movement in the guide tube, a flat spring connected to the guide tube, configured for interacting with the rod inside the guide tube. The rod and the working part are rigidly connected to each other. The guide tube is configured for being used in the form of a case for the working part of the tool in the folded position and a handle for holding it in the working position, with the possibility of fixing the position of the rod by means of the interaction of a flat spring with a recess made on it. The tool is equipped with a pin with a head, configured for fixing the position of the working part, having a total length not exceeding the thickness of the rod. The pin is installed in a through hole made in the rod perpendicular to the movement of the working part configured for longitudinal movement when the head interacts with a flat spring when the rod is fixed and enters, when interacting with a flat spring, into a hole made in the side surface of the guide tube. An important advantage is the good resistance to dirt, because the mechanism of the device is well protected from contamination in the working position, as well as the ease of disassembly and cleaning of the device, because the design has practically no elements inconvenient for cleaning.

EFFECT: ease of manufacture, safety, resistance to lateral loads, due to the absence of a hinge.
