FIELD: stress measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine residual stresses in metal parts with uneven distribution of stresses over the depth of the surface layer. The method for determining residual stresses includes reliable fixation in the holder of one end of the part, which is subjected to electrochemical etching on the anode in an electrolytic bath with recording of the time, current and voltage of etching, as well as deformation of the part by the amount of displacement of its free end, and calculating the distribution of residual stresses in depth of their occurrence in the surface layer, moreover, two identical flat parts are used, one end of which is fixed in holders with the placement of the studied flat surfaces vertically and parallel to each other, the holders are connected to different poles of a direct current source and etching is carried out only in the gap between the parts, whereas the value the displacements of the free ends of the parts is recorded by laser meters of the displacements of levers-enlargers equipped with light reflectors and installed on the free ends of the parts.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of measuring residual stresses during electrochemical etching, while at the same time simplifying the implementation of the method and preparing the device for operation.
