FIELD: radars.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in monopulse radar stations (RS) when tracking low-flying targets (LFT) at low elevation angles in the presence of interfering reflections from the underlying surface. In the claimed method in the radar, when implementing the secondary processing of radar information, a linear non-stationary regression dependence between the elevation angle of the target and the slant range to it is used. A monopulse radar that implements a method for determining the elevation angle comprises a transmitter, an antenna switch, an antenna, a receiver, a threshold device, a synchronizer and an initial conditions storage device. It additionally includes a range measurement unit, an angular coordinate measurement unit, a regression dependence parameter calculator, and a corrected elevation angle calculator.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of measuring the elevation angle and height of LFTs in conditions of multipath propagation of radio waves.
