SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to applying a composition to a surface to be treated. A device and a method are proposed, in which the device may include an optical radiation source that projects fiducial markers onto the skin; a detector receiving image data corresponding to an image of the skin area marked with fiducial markers; an applicator that applies the composition to a site within a skin area; and a processing unit. The processing unit acquires the image data, analyzes the image data to determine the morphology of the skin area based on fiducial marks captured within the image, detects, based on the morphology, an area within the image corresponding to the target site of the applicator unit, analyzes the image data to determine whether whether the detected area is a skin artifact, and guides the applicator assembly to selectively apply the composition to the site if a skin artifact is detected in the detected area.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides applying of compositions for topical application with direction along projected fiducial markers.
