FIELD: medicine; thoracic surgery.

SUBSTANCE: trocar is inserted into the pleural cavity of a mini-pig laboratory animal in a position on a healthy side under general anesthesia using separate ventilation of the lungs. During the revision of the pleural cavity, the condition of the lung parenchyma is assessed. After completion of the revision of the pleural cavity and control of hemostasis, control of aerostasis is performed, followed by an assessment of the compliance of the volume of the full expanded lung with the volume of the pleural cavity. Pleurodesis is performed by instilling chemically pure titanium nickelide powder into the pleural cavity of a mini-pig laboratory animal using a spray gun with its uniform distribution over the surface of the parietal pleura in an amount of 5 to 7 g. The particle size is 15–50 microns. Drainage through the anterior and posterior sinuses is installed in the pleural cavity through trocar injections from 6–7 intercostal space to the apex of the lung. The trocar injections are sutured. The drainage is removed when the lung is fully expanded, its tightness is reached, and the volume of pleural effusion is reduced to less than 200 ml per day.

EFFECT: method allows to obliterate the pleural cavity in the experiment, provide a pronounced adhesive process in the pleural cavity without significant focal inflammation of the lung tissue, prevent exudation and the occurrence of a respiratory syndrome, and can be used in the treatment of patients with recurrent metastatic pleurisy.
