FIELD: gas production.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to improved methods for removing water from gas streams and to improved adsorbent beds. An adsorbent/drier mixed bed effective for removing water from a wet gas stream to produce a dry gas stream comprises at least two bed volumes. The total volume of the layer has an axial length, a diameter, a total volume, an inlet end and an outlet end, in which from 5% vol. up to 25% vol. of the first volume of the layer is made to receive a stream of wet gas, from the inlet end towards the outlet end and contain one or more desiccants, including aluminosilicate gels, and essentially do not contain adsorbents. The adsorbents are selected from the group consisting of molecular sieves. The remaining volume of the layer is made for additional reception of conditioned wet stream from the first volume of the layer and contains a mixture containing from 50% vol. up to 95% vol. of one or more adsorbents selected from the group consisting of molecular sieves, and from 50% vol. up to 5% vol. of one or more dryers, including aluminosilicate gels, from the total volume of the mixture. Said one or more desiccants and one or more adsorbents are each present independently of one another in the form of discrete particles. At a relative humidity of at least 10%, said adsorbents are capable of adsorbing more water than said desiccants. At a relative humidity of 90%, said driers are designed to adsorb more water than said adsorbents under ambient conditions. Moreover, the amount of water is the mass of water in terms of the mass unit of the said adsorbents or desiccants. Also claimed is a system for removing water from a wet gas stream to produce a dry gas stream using multiple adsorbent/drier mixed beds. Also a method is claimed for removing water from a wet gas outflow to obtain a dry gas stream by passing wet gas through a mixed adsorbent/dryer bed.
EFFECT: group of inventions ensures removal of water from wet gas streams.
