FIELD: analytical.
SUBSTANCE: used in laboratories that carry out analytical control of industrial production associated with the catalytic production of formaldehyde. A method for preparing samples of spent silver catalyst on a porous support to determine the silver content. The method includes calcination in a muffle furnace. At the same time, a catalyst fraction with a particle size of less than 0.4 mm is used for analysis, which is preliminarily boiled for 0.5-1.0 hours in water with a salinity of 55 mg/l with occasional stirring. The filtered catalyst is calcined in a muffle furnace in a thin layer 1-3 mm high for 2 hours at a temperature of 500-580°C.
EFFECT: reducing the duration of sample preparation and providing accelerated adjustment to constant weight for batches of catalyst of any degree of coking, that is, the complete removal of all carbon deposits in the absence of thermal destruction of the support, catalyst sintering and silver carryover.
