FIELD: packaging.

SUBSTANCE: sachet that contains a solid product, and in particular to a biodegradable and/or home-compostable sachet containing open cell foam. The biodegradable and/or home compostable sachet contains a front film and a back film. In some examples, the front film and the back film may include a middle layer, which may contain paper containing more than 85% cellulose, and an inner layer, which may include other material, including, but not limited to, polyvinyl alcohol or polyhydroxyalkanoate. The sachet may include a compartment adapted to hold a solid product, wherein the solid product is an open cell foam. The open cell foam may include a water soluble polymer and a surfactant.

EFFECT: providing an acceptable moisture-proof barrier in the sachet, the ability to withstand compressive loads up to 20 psi (137.9 kPa) ensure shelf life of at least 18 months for a consumer product, and possibility of repulping or organic recycling.
