FIELD: ruthenium catalysts.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to ruthenium catalysts for metathesis polymerization of cyclic olefins. A metathesis catalyst, which is [1,3-bis-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-2-imidazolidinylidene] dichloro(2-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)-4-methoxybenzylidene) ruthenium, and a method of metathesis polymerization are proposed with ring opening of cyclic olefins using the claimed catalyst at a molar ratio of catalyst to monomer from 1:60000 to 1:350000.
EFFECT: improved solubility and expansion of the range of monomers used in metathesis polymerization.
