FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organometallic chemistry, particularly to production of reaction of ruthenium complex and method for metathesis polymerisation of cyclic olefins. Obtained polymers according to invention can be used as structural plastics. A metathesis catalyst represents [1,3-bis-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-2-imidazolidinylidene] dichloro (2-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)-4,5-dimetooxybenzilidene) ruthenium of formula (1). Method consists in the fact that [1,3-bis-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-2-imidazolidinylidene] dichloro (2-izopropoxyphenylmethylene) ruthenium (II-generation Grubb's catalyst) reacts with 2-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)-4,5-dimetoxystyrene in toluene at heating in inert atmosphere. Method for metathesis polymerisation with opening cyclic olefins is characterised by that polymerisation is carried out using disclosed catalyst in molar ratio of catalyst: monomer from 70000:1 to 1:300000.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improved solubility and stability of catalyst in monomers and solvents, thereby widening range of used monomers, as well as reduced catalyst consumption and possibility of controlling polymerisation process beginning.
