FIELD: polymerization.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to embodiments of a method for polymerizing an olefin monomer to obtain a first polyolefin composition containing a first polyolefin polymer. The method includes steps (A)-(C): (A) contacting a solution of a first alkane-soluble non-metallocene pre-catalyst dissolved in an alkane solvent with an activator to form a first auxiliary catalyst comprising a first alkane-soluble non-metallocene catalyst; (B) feeding the first auxiliary catalyst to the polymerization reactor; and (C) polymerizing the olefin monomer with the first co-catalyst in the polymerization reactor; obtaining the first polyolefin composition containing the first polyolefin polymer; wherein the first alkane-soluble non-metallocene precatalyst has a solubility in hexanes containing at least 60 weight percent n-hexane equal to at least 0.10 weight percent relative to the total weight of the first alkane-soluble non-metallocene precatalyst and hexanes. The process is characterized in that the alkane-soluble non-metallocene pre-catalyst is a compound of formula (1) wherein M is a Group 4 metal and each R is independently selected from a silicon-free organic solubilizing group. Moreover, each R, which is independently selected from a silicon-free organic solubilizing group, is independently methyl, an unsubstituted (C2-C4) alkyl group, an unsubstituted (C5-C12) alkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted quaternary arylalkyl group; or both R groups are linked together to form R'-R', where R'-R' is unsubstituted or substituted (aryl)alkylene; where each group R and group R'-R' does not contain cyclopentadienyl group, silicon atom, double carbon-carbon bond and triple carbon-carbon bond; where each substituent may independently be selected from unsubstituted (C1-C5)alkyl, halogen, -O-alkyl and -M(alkyl)2; where each quaternary arylalkyl group sequentially comprises a Quaternary alkyl, phenylene and (C1-C3)alkylene linker, whereas the quaternary alkyl is associated with phenylene, which is associated with a (C1-C3)alkylene linker, which is associated with metal M; where (C1-C3)alkylene linker and groups R'-R' are divalent; and wherein the quaternary alkyl comprises a quaternary carbon atom that may be directly or indirectly bonded to phenylene, wherein the quaternary carbon atom is an element having atomic number 6 in the periodic table of the elements that is bonded to four other carbon atoms.
