FIELD: mining; metallurgical industry.

SUBSTANCE: determining the content of magnesium fluoride in sellaite and fluorite-sellaite products, a titrimetric method for determining magnesium fluoride is used. Samples of the mentioned products are treated with acetic acid, heated and mixed. The insoluble residue is filtered off and a mixture of hydrochloric and boric acids is added, boiled, the hot solution is filtered, cooled to room temperature, an aliquot is taken, diluted with water, triethanolamine solution, an indicator mixture, potassium hydroxide are added and titrated with a 0.025 M solution of Trilon B until a dark green color changes into violet, after which the mass fraction of magnesium fluoride is determined according to certain formulas.
