SUBSTANCE: device for forming a tampon, which includes several processing drums 2, 4, 5.1, 5.2 for forming a tampon from a tape material. It also includes at least one transfer wheel 7 for continuous transfer of workpieces from first processing drum 2, 4, 5.1, 5.2 to second processing drum 4, 5.1, 5.2. The invention also relates to a method for forming a tampon from a web material, wherein the transfer from the first processing drum to the second processing drum is carried out by means of a continuously rotating transmission wheel.
