FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: used to determine the adhesive-cohesive strength of layers of sheet compositions and thick functional coatings with high accuracy. The method consists in making a sample from a sheet layered material or a material with a thick functional coating; to produce the sample, a cylindrical hole is cut out on one side of the composition to a depth greater than the thickness of this layer of the composition by an amount greater than the thickness of the transition zone between the layers, if any. In this case, a hole is cut out from the side of the base material to a depth exceeding the thickness of the base material, an annular groove is cut out on the other side of the composition coaxially to the cut hole to a depth exceeding the thickness of the composition layer, including the thickness of the transition zone between the layers, if any. In this case, the annular groove is cut out from the coating side to a depth exceeding the thickness of the coating and the thickness of the transition zone, if any. Tests are carried out on a test press with the function of measuring force and displacement or on a universal tensile testing machine until the composition is destroyed; analyze the nature of destruction and calculate the tensile strength of the composition.

EFFECT: providing the ability to determine with high accuracy the adhesive-cohesive strength of layered materials and thick functional coatings.
