FIELD: producing artificial filler from tailings from ore dumps.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing artificial aggregate, including providing sand tailings from mining operations, arranged in ore dumps and characterized by particle sizes in the range from 0.03 to 11 mm, mixing sand tailings and binder for 30 to 60 minutes until the mixture is homogeneous, granulating the mixture at room temperature in a granulating machine and curing the granules at room temperature for a period ranging from 1 to 14 days. The binder is selected from commercial pozzolan or pozzolan produced by using waste rock from the mining operations itself after calcination and mixed with Portland cement type V (PCV). The sand tailings/binder mixture composition includes 65 to 85 wt.% mining tailings and 15 to 35 wt.% binder. Granulation of the mixture is carried out at room temperature in a granulating machine by adding water and spraying until the moisture content ranges from 4 to 12%. The residence time of the mixture in the granulating machine is in the range from 30 to 70 minutes, taking into account the mass of 400 kg of the mixture. Moreover, calcination of waste rock is carried out using instant calcination technology in the range from 750 to 950°C. The mixture of calcined gangue and Portland cement type V (PCV) is characterized by a mass ratio of from 25 to 30 wt.% of calcined gangue and from 70 to 75 wt.% of Portland cement type V (PCV). The concrete composition contains from 15.3 to 18.6 wt.% of Portland cement type V (PCV), from 32.8 to 34.3 wt.% of natural sand, from 48.5 to 50.4 wt.% of artificial aggregate.
