SUBSTANCE: invention relates to data transmission in a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity associated with a radio link control (RLC) entity in an unacknowledged mode (UM). To do this, the method includes determining the target operating mode of the PDCP entity and, based on the target operating mode, transmitting data packets to the upper layer protocol entity in numbering order. According to the present application, a PDCP entity can be configured with different operating modes based on different service scenarios, thereby increasing flexibility in transmitting PDCP entity data. In addition, reordering can be performed in each operating mode, and through some operating modes, data packets can be delivered to the application service faster, and thus latency is reduced. Some operating modes support the ability to wait for new data packets that are not successfully received, which may result in reduced data packet loss.

EFFECT: increased flexibility when transmitting PDCP object data.
