SUBSTANCE: invention relates namely to weakly directional antennas used in unmanned aerial vehicles. The essence of the proposed solution is that square plates made of metamaterial having 1 dimension are placed near the antenna rod of an unmanned aerial vehicle. The square cell size of the metamaterial is 0.51λ. The side size of a square plate is 1.05λ, where λ - wavelength. These plates are placed perpendicular to the antenna-pin on the fuselage of the UAV, which are made of material with negative magnetic permeability.

EFFECT: increase in the radio communication range of the antenna when adjusting its type of pattern to the optimal normalized pattern.
