SUBSTANCE: method for detecting defects in the surface of an armored cable, used on an armoring line for an oil submersible cable, containing pay-off devices, a tape wrapper, an armored winding machine, a tape-type traction device, a control cabinet including a control panel, a monitor, a receiving device for winding the finished cable, an armored winding head including a shaft with a faceplate and a support drum, guide rollers for winding armored tape, a process drum with armored tape, a video camera unit is additionally installed in the control cabinet, an inductive drum rotation sensor is additionally installed on the support drum, which transmits an impulse from this sensor that enters the control cabinet to the hardware trigger of the video camera, the defect detection algorithm determines the position of the cable and allocates a zone to search for defects in the image and the ability to transfer data to a neural network to classify the image for compliance with defects.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the location of defects on the surface of an armored cable.
