SUBSTANCE: method of detecting the effect of zearalenone is described, the said method including the following: determining in the test sample the expression level of at least one microRNA selected from the group consisting of ssc-miR-1, ssc-miR-181c, ssc-miR-206, ssc-miR-503, ssc-miR-542-3p, ssc-miR-135, ssc-miR-129a-3p, ssc-miR-142-3p, ssc-miR-432-5p, ssc-miR-455-5p, ssc-miR- 182, ssc-miR-493-3p, ssc-miR-455-3p, ssc-miR-183, and ssc-miR-140-3p, or at least one expression level ratio between two of said microRNAs, the said test being the sample is a blood sample; and comparing the said expression level or at least one ratio of expression levels with a reference value. Also a data processing system containing a processor configured to implement the specified method is described. The following is proposed: a sequencing device capable of determining the level of at least one microRNA selected from the group consisting of ssc-miR-1, ssc-miR-181c, ssc-miR-206, ssc-miR-503, ssc-miR-542-3p, ssc-miR-135, ssc-miR-135a-5p, ssc-miR-129a-3p, ssc-miR-142-3p, ssc-miR-432-5p, ssc-miR-455-5p, ssc- miR-182, ssc-miR-493-3p, ssc-miR-455-3p, ssc-miR-183, and ssc-miR-140-3p containing data processing system. A machine-readable medium that stores on it a computer program containing instructions for operating the said sequencing system or device is proposed. A kit for implementing this method is presented.
EFFECT: group of inventions relates to a method of detecting exposure to zearalenone (ZEN), including determining the expression level of at least one microRNA in a test sample, as well as to a new way to use at least one microRNA to detect exposure to zearalenone (ZEN) in a test sample.
