FIELD: polyalkyl methacrylate depressants.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for producing polyalkyl methacrylate depressants, including the production of alkyl methacrylates by esterification of methacrylic acid with higher fatty alcohols in the presence of a catalyst, followed by polymerization of the resulting alkyl methacrylates, characterized in that the esterification at the first stage is carried out with fatty alcohols without the use of an organic solvent in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst, and in the second stage the resulting product, without additional purification and neutralization, is subjected to radical polymerization in a base oil in the presence of ethylene-vinyl ester copolymers, carried out by adding a thermally decomposing radical polymerization initiator. Also described is a depressant obtained by the above method, which is a product of copolymerization of alkyl methacrylates and copolymers of ethylene with a vinyl ester, and its use for lowering the pour point of motor oils and heavy petroleum fuels is described.

EFFECT: reducing the amount of waste when producing alkyl methacrylates and polymers based on them and increasing the quality and efficiency of the resulting products.
