FIELD: medicine; oncology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of treating exocrine pancreatic cancer in a human patient who has been pretreated with gemcitabine, the said invention comprises intravenously administering to the patient an antitumor therapy consisting of the following: a) a dose of 60, 70 or 80 mg/m² of a liposomal irinotecan composition containing irinotecan liposomes in a diluted irinotecan injection formulation, wherein the diluted irinotecan injection formulation is prepared by diluting a volume of a liposomal irinotecan composition containing 5 mg/ml liposomal irinotecan in 500 ml of 5% dextrose injection, in combination with b) a dose of 200 mg/m² (l) form of leucovorin and a dose of 2,400 mg/m² of 5-fluorouracil, for the treatment of exocrine pancreatic cancer in a patient, where the liposomal composition of irinotecan contains a salt of irinotecan with sucrose octasulfate, encapsulated in irinotecan liposomes consisting of phosphatidylcholine, cholesterol and phosphatidylethanolamine modified with polyethylene glycol, and having a diameter of approximately 80–140 nm, wherein a diluted injectable formulation of irinotecan, leucovorin and 5-fluorouracil is administered to the patient sequentially, starting on the first day of a two-week cycle.

EFFECT: invention provides therapeutic synergy in combination therapy using liposomal irinotecan with 5-FU and leucovorin.
