FIELD: electronics; medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electronics, medicine and catalysis in the manufacture of solid electrolytes, piezoelectric actuators, high-temperature hydrogen sensors, luminescent materials, fuel cell membranes, as well as base substrates for producing single crystals of high-temperature superconductors. Nanostructured materials with a perovskite structure based on BaZrO3 are produced using the sol-gel method. First, the following is prepared: aqueous solutions of barium nitrate Ba(NO3)2 and zirconyl ZrO(NO3)2 with glycine C2H5NO2 taken in an amount of 2.22 mol for preparation of 1 mole of material. Additionally there may be Yttrium nitrate Y(NO3)3 introduced⋅6H2O. These reagents are added to water sequentially and at equal intervals. Then the mixture is evaporated at temperatures not exceeding 350°C and continuous mixing until it becomes gel-like and ignites spontaneously. Next, heat treatment is carried out at 500–1,000°C for 30 minutes and the rate of temperature is increased and decreased to 5°S/min and 3°S/min respectively. Heat-treated powders are pressed at a pressure of at least 150 MPa and sintered at 950–1,000°C for 1÷10 hours. The resulting nanostructured materials with a perovskite structure contain at least 90% of the main stoichiometric phase, are characterized by an average crystallite size of 20–25 nm and a bulk density of 0.01–0.03 g/cm 3.
