FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: application of an anti-adhesive, biocompatible and bacteriostatic coating based on carbon on metal, polymer and textile products for medical purposes used in the manufacture and use of metal, polymer and textile products for medical purposes in hospitals. The surface of a medical product is first cleaned by ion etching in a sealed chamber, which is first vacuumed to a residual pressure of 9⋅10-5-1⋅10-6 Torr, filled with argon, evacuated to a residual pressure of 1⋅10-4-3⋅10-3 Torr and carry out ion etching of a medical product with argon ions with an energy of 0.7-3.0 keV for 4-8 minutes. Then filled with a gas mixture based on argon and containing 8-12 vol.% oxygen and 22-28 vol.% nitrogen and evacuated to a residual pressure of 1⋅10-4-3⋅10-3 Torr chamber, a coating based on tetrahedral disordered carbon of the ta-C type, having a functional oxidized surface layer, is applied to the surface of a medical product by pulsed plasma arc sputtering of a graphite cathode at a pulse duration of 0.1-1.0 ms and their frequency following 0.1-30 Hz. In this case, during one discharge pulse of a pulsed plasma arc source of carbon plasma, a layer 5-50 angstroms thick is applied at a discharge power of 0.5-1 kW.
EFFECT: possibility of applying an anti-adhesive, biocompatible and bacteriostatic coating based on carbon on metal, polymer and textile medical products, compatibility of the coating applied to metal, polymer and textile medical products with the physiological environments of the patient’s body, as well as reliably ensuring the ability to protect the medical product from the occurrence of infection processes.
