FIELD: food industry; agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: technique for separating particles of protein and starch from grain flour and leguminous raw materials by pneumatic classification. The unit consists of a two-chamber disperser, a cyclone, a centrifugal vortex classifier, a tangential pipe for collecting and removing the light fraction, and a sluice valve for removing the heavy fraction. The heavy fraction is discharged through an arcuate pipe into a housing with a rotary valve and two pipes. One pipe is used to remove and unload the heavy fraction, and the second – to direct it to the disperser for complete or partial recirculation. The arcuate pipe acts as a separator for the recirculated heavy fraction as it moves along a curved surface. Under the influence of the sluice gate blades and gravitational forces, particles are separated by density: lighter particles float in the flow, and heavy starch grains, which have a higher density, settle. The rotary valve divides the falling flow into two fractions and establishes threefold recirculation of the heavy fraction.
