FIELD: thermomechanical welding methods.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in connecting railway, tram and other rails. Mechanical processing of the welded ends of the rails is carried out to ensure their perpendicularity to the axes of the rails and the formation on one or both of their welded ends of the relief in the form of evenly spaced protrusions with a height of at least 2 mm and no more than 10 mm in the form of pyramids or cones, or truncated pyramids or cones. The method ensures an increase in the uniformity of heating of surfaces at the base of the protrusions and a decrease in the influence of the bevel of the ends of the rails on the stability of the welding process.
EFFECT: reducing the heating time of the contact surface leads to a decrease in the size of the HAZ and an increase in the strength of the welded joint.
