METHOD OF SPEECH DEVELOPMENT IN CHILDREN OVER 4 YEARS OF AGE AFTER COCHLEAR IMPLANTATION SURGERY Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61F11/00 A61B5/16

Abstract RU 2809692 C1

FIELD: medicine; audiology; deaf pedagogy.

SUBSTANCE: method includes a 20-week course of singing lessons. Before and after the course a questionnaire containing 6 sections is used to assess the child’s skills in points. The course includes a class with a teacher once a week for 30 minutes and daily 15-minute independent lessons for the child at home with video and audio material. Moreover, classes with a teacher include listening and singing of 20 songs. The teacher sings along with the child, accompanying the singing with gestures, facial expressions and accentuated articulation. Additionally, the class includes drawing. The teacher combines singing songs with the use of guitar accompaniment. The obtained data on assessing the child’s skills after classes are compared with the corresponding indicators before the start of classes. If at least 1 indicator in each of the 6 sections of the questionnaire has changed by 1 point or more, speech formation is considered effective. If 5 or fewer indicators have changed by 1 point, speech formation is considered insufficiently effective.

EFFECT: method ensures increased efficiency of hearing and speech development in children over 4 years of age after cochlear implantation (CI) surgery due to the ability of CI systems to transmit not only rhythmic, but also melodic, pitch, timbre, and dynamic characteristics of music through the use of voice singing.
