SUBSTANCE: method for imparting hydrophobicity to a carbon material. The method includes the synthesis of carbon material by laser pyrolysis of the surface of a polyimide film, carried out in air, and keeping the film with the synthesized carbon material in a rarefied atmosphere at a pressure equal to or lower than 7 Pa for one and a half hours or more.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to impart hydrophobicity to a carbon material synthesized by laser pyrolysis on the surface of a polyimide film, without using a special gas environment during the laser pyrolysis process.
