FIELD: electrical engineering; applied magnetic hydrodynamics.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for pumping various metals and alloys under high pressure both in metallurgy and in the nuclear industry and can be used for transporting even such heavy metals as lead. An electromagnetic induction pump for liquid conducting media comprises a magnetic core with an excitation winding, inlet and outlet pipes, and a channel with an electrically conductive busbar located in the interpolar gap. The electromagnetic induction pump has two interpolar gaps, in which a channel made in the form of a cylindrical spiral is located. The internal turns of the spiral channel in the area of interpolar gaps are connected to each other by welding or soldering. The outer turns of the channel in the area of the interpolar gaps are electrically connected to the longitudinal parts of two horseshoe-shaped buses covering the poles of the magnetic circuit from opposite sides in the direction of winding the turns of the channel. A laminated ferromagnetic block is located inside a cylindrical spiral with an abutment between the poles.

EFFECT: simplified design of the channel and increased pressure developed by the pump without significantly increasing the dimensions of the pump.
